MS Project: Beyond the Basics is the second course in the Microsoft® Project series. In MS Project: Mastering the Basics, students learned to identify, organize, network, and apply resources to project tasks resulting in an executable project plan. In this class, students learn how to track progress, manage project costs and report project performance using Microsoft® Project.

Course Overview

MS Project: Beyond the Basics builds upon the knowledge gained in MS Project: Mastering the Basics. Elements of project execution are discussed and project plans are updated to reflect task progress, address changes in project scope, track costs, and report performance.

This course is designed for project managers and planners who are responsible for creating and modifying project plans, have an understanding of project management concepts, and plan to use Microsoft® Office Project as their project planning tool.

Prerequisites

Students enrolled for this course should have the following:

• An understanding of project management concepts
• Familiarity with establishing project plans using Microsoft® Project
• Knowledge of a Windows operating system, either Windows XP or Windows Vista

• Completion of Project Management Fundamentals
• Completion of MS Project: Mastering the Basics 
• A basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
